Mr. Leonid Gavrilov
Ballet Master
Mr. Leonid Gavrilov is a classically trained ballet teacher and former professional soloist with extensive international stage experience and a deep commitment to dance education. His artistic journey spans prestigious institutions and international stages across Russia, Europe, and Asia, shaping a refined approach to both performance and pedagogy.
Leonid began his professional career performing with renowned companies such as the Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Russian Ballet State Theatre, where he appeared in iconic classical productions including Swan Lake, Giselle, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty. He later joined La Classique Theatre as a soloist, performing leading roles with technical precision, artistry, and expressive depth.
Transitioning into teaching, Leonid has developed a structured and thoughtful approach to ballet education, working with children, pre-professional students, and adults. His methodology is firmly rooted in the Vaganova method, emphasizing clean technique, musicality, and progressive development. Alongside technical training, he integrates dancer conditioning, posture alignment, and movement awareness to support safe and sustainable growth.
Leonid’s expertise extends beyond traditional ballet. As a certified 400-hour yoga instructor, he incorporates principles of stability, control, and mobility into his teaching. His continued study of anatomy and biomechanics allows him to guide students with a deeper understanding of the body, focusing on injury prevention and long-term physical health—qualities that are essential for dancers in demanding training environments.
His international teaching experience includes work with institutions such as the Kunming College of Arts, as well as various freelance and studio-based roles across Asia. This global perspective enriches his teaching style, making it adaptable, insightful, and student-centered.
In the studio, Leonid is passionate about nurturing not only strong dancers but intelligent movers. He helps each student build a resilient, aligned, and expressive body that supports both artistic excellence and lifelong well-being.
