Terms & Conditions

    1. All parents and students are requested to note that registration and admission to Yan Ballet Academy classes are subject to the conditions below, and attendance of classes, workshops or activities and productions is recognition of their acceptance of these conditions. The headings in these Terms and Conditions are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect. Yan Ballet Academy may modify these terms and Conditions at any time. Such modification shall be effective immediately upon posting of the modified Terms and Conditions on the website. Accordingly, your continued attendance of classes, workshops or activities and productions shall be deemed to be your acceptance of the modified Terms and Conditions.

Registration

    1. One invoice will be raised for the first term’s classes, which will include the following elements:
      1. $60 registration fee; one off and non-refundable (a per family fee that will only be charged in the first invoice for the family)
      2. $200 refundable deposit/per child
      3. Term fee for the classes the student(s) enrolled in
      4. Required class leotard(s)

Payment

    1. Payment must be made according to payment terms stated on the invoice, and ALL FEES must be paid in full prior to the start of term (or start of attendance to class if joining class mid-term). If any payments which are due under these Terms and Conditions are not made by their respective due date, we have the right to exclude your child from class. Penalty interest will be charged on late fees, please see the invoice for details of the penalty rates. We regret to inform you that non-compliance with these terms may result in the student not having access to class and the place being released for the wait list. Our Fees schedule is available online and in the office. Yan Ballet Academy reserves the right to review and amend the fees at any time and without prior notice.
    2. We accept payment in cash, cheque, PayNow or bank transfer.

    5. Payments should in all instances reference the student’s full name. Failure to do so may result in the payment being unidentified, the account remaining outstanding and the student not being admitted to class.
    6. The Academy will not accept any liability for cash or cheques left at Reception, given to teachers or any other persons not authorised to receive money.

Refunds, Cancellations, Absence.

    1. No refunds will be given for missed classes.
    2. There is strictly no pro-rating of fees except for students joining Yan Ballet Academy for the first time during the middle of a term.
    3. Should a student decide to discontinue lessons, 1 calendar month notice is required. After the 1 calendar month and after the student’s classes have discontinued, we will refund the student deposit (if no outstanding payments). No refund of fees will be made for withdrawal from the Academy.
    4. If a class is cancelled due to the sickness of the teacher, a health epidemic or any other seen or unforeseen event, the Academy will endeavour to reschedule the class. This may be on a different day or a different time or both from when the class was originally scheduled and might involve an extension to the term time dates. No refunds will be given in this case.
    5. For private classes, 24 hours notice must be given to cancel a class with no fee to be charged. If less than 24 hours notice is given, half the fee will be charged.

Make-Up Classes

    1. Make-up classes are offered for student absences on the following ONLY:
      1. Illness
      2. Overseas holidays
    2. Yan Ballet Academy will endeavour to arrange the make-up classes, but cannot guarantee it. Make-up classes will be the same grade, but a session where the student is not enrolled. If the student is enrolled in all the sessions, make-up classes can be arranged at other school branches.
    3. Students must submit the make-up application form with mandatory supporting documents (medical certificate/air tickets, etc.). The form is available at: http://www.yanballetacademy.com/makeup
    4. Make-up classes are only allowed during the first month of each subsequent term according to the schedule set by Yan Ballet Academy, with the exception of classes missed in Term 1 (see clause 18).
    5. For classes missed in Term 1, the make-up period will be the whole of Term 1, in addition to the first month of Term 2.
    6. Only students who have paid for the following term fee in full are allowed to enjoy the makeup lessons.
    7. No changes are allowed after make-up lesson appointments are made.
    8. Make-up lessons will be forfeited if students do not turn up on the appointment lesson.
    9. No advance make-up lessons will be allowed.

Royal Academy of Dance

    1. It is in the sole discretion of the teacher (with final approval from the Artistic Director) if a student can take the RAD exam or not.
    2. The student taking the exam must pay the RAD Exam Fee (set each year by the Royal Academy of Dance) and the Yan Ballet Academy RAD Exam Admin & Preparation Fee (SGD $88) before the RAD registration deadline. Note that if the teacher decides, after payment has been made, that the student cannot take the RAD exam (per clause 23), the exam fees will NOT be refunded.
    3. Each RAD class is held multiple times per week; when signing up before the term starts the student must choose which weekly class(es) to participate in.
    4. For those who are doing RAD exams in Apr 2023, for Pre-Primary you must join two weekly classes from 2022 Term 4. For Primary to Grade 3 you must join two weekly classes from 2022 Term 3. From Grade 4 onwards, you must join two weekly classes for all 4 terms before the exam. Teachers may decide during a term that the student needs to attend more classes than this.
    5. Students must do all their RAD classes in one branch in order to do the exam.
    6. Students must do at least 2 full terms of classes with Yan Ballet Academy before being eligible for consideration for RAD exams.
    7. We reserve the right to use RAD exam results for marketing purposes, including disclosing exam scores.

Dancewear and Appearance

    1. Students are required to purchase the Yan Ballet Academy class leotard. If the student is taking a RAD exam, the student will shortly before the exam purchase the next grade’s leotard and wear that during the exam. For example, if a student is in Grade 1, she will wear the Grade 1 leotard until the exam. Right before the exam she will purchase the Grade 2 leotard and wear it during the exam and continue wearing it after the exam as she advances to Grade 2.
    2. Students must wear ballet tights (pink) and ballet shoes. These can be purchased at Yan Ballet Academy or in other stores.
    3. Students must wear panties that are not visible outside the leotard.
    4. Students must wear their hair neatly in a bun for all classes.

Pick Up and Drop Off from Class: Boundary of Responsibilities

    1. Yan Ballet Academy’s responsibility for minor students begins only when the child is delivered to the class room when a teacher is present in the room. Yan Ballet Academy is NOT responsible for children if they have been dropped off outside the building, nor if they are left unattended anywhere else on Yan Ballet Academy property.
    2. All children are the responsibility of the Academy for the duration of the class ONLY. Before and after class is the responsibility of the parent/caretaker.
    3. All children are to be collected from the studio, under NO circumstances are the children permitted to wait on the street.

Toilet policy

    1. Parents of young children should ensure that their child goes to the toilet before class starts so that they do not need to do so during class. We do however understand that with very young children, they might not be able to hold for a full class. In the event that a child needs to go to the toilet, the receptionist will ONLY be able to follow the child to the bathroom and bring her back. The receptionist will NOT be able to follow the child into the bathroom and help them inside. If your child is not able to go in to the toilet themselves, please do not venture far from the school so that you can bring her to the toilet should she need to. Please also inform us if your child is not able to go to the toilet themselves, so that our receptionist is aware and will call you to come bring your child to the bathroom. The receptionist will then have the child wait in the reception for you.

Accident Waiver and Release of Liability

    1. All care will be taken by the Academy however the Academy accepts no responsibility for injury or loss to person or property howsoever caused and without limiting the generality of the foregoing damage or injury resulting from or caused by any negligence of the principal, instructors or other employees of Yan Ballet Academy. The parent on behalf of themselves and their child and/or the student agrees that Yan Ballet Academy, and their directors, board members, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, representatives, or assigns or any persons authorised by Yan Ballet Academy shall not be liable or responsible for any and all liability, including, but not limited to, any accident or personal injury sustained or suffered by themselves, the child and/or the student, or for any damage to property however caused while the child and/or student is participating in any activity connected to the Yan Ballet Academy programme.
    2. The Parent/guardian on behalf of themselves and their child and/or the student shall defend, hold harmless, and indemnify the Yan Ballet Academy parties from and against all losses, claims, damages, costs or expenses (including reasonable legal fees, or similar costs) in connection with any action or claim brought or made (or threatened to be brought or made), for, or on account of any injuries or damages, received or sustained by themselves and/or their child and/or the student arising during the course of any Yan Ballet Academy activity.
    3. Physical contact may be necessary by members of the teaching faculty. If you have any concerns regarding this matter please contact us.
    4. THE PARENT/GUARDIAN AND/OR THE STUDENT CERTIFIES THAT THEIR CHILD AND THEMSELVES ARE PHYSICALLY FIT AND SUFFICIENTLY PREPARED FOR PARTICIPATION IN ANY ACTIVITY AND THAT THERE ARE NO HEALTH RELATED REASONS OR PROBLEMS WHICH WOULD PRECLUDE THE PARTICIPATION OF THEMSELVES OR THEIR CHILD AND/OR THE STUDENT IN ANY ACTIVITY.

Medical Needs

    1. In case of need, and in the event that the parents cannot be contacted to give consent, the teacher in charge may authorise the medical examination of the child, the calling of further medical or specialist advice or the removal of the child to hospital, all the expenses thereby incurred to be met by the parents.

Use of Images, Video, Audio and Others

    1. From time to time we record class work to be used for media and academic release. Attendance of any Yan Ballet Academy class, production, workshop or event is acceptance of usage of your child’s and/or your photograph, written work and voice in academic works, brochures, videos or other promotional materials.
    2. Photos, video, audio, name, competition results may occasionally be taken of the students to be used on our website and social media – please advise if your child/you is not to be included in any photos/videos.

Participating in Competitions

    1. Students who compete in dance competitions shall register in the school name of “Yan Ballet Academy” for national and international ballet competitions. They shall in no circumstances compete under any other school, academy or institution’s name while they are a student of Yan Ballet Academy (students can represent other dance schools for other dance genres if notification is given to Yan Ballet Academy before enrolling with our school and the Artistic Director gives consent).

Communications

    1. In an attempt to use less paper, we distribute our information electronically via email, our Facebook page, Instagram and on the website. For this to work effectively, we need you to read the bulletins and newsletters as soon as they are received. Please inform us of any changes to mailing address, email address or contact numbers in order for us to be able to contact you, especially in an emergency.
    2. Please ensure that the email address admin@yanballetacademy.com is saved to your list of contacts and does not end up in your spam folder. We also ask that you join our Facebook Page http://fb.me/yanballetacademy and follow us on Instagram (@yanballetacademy) as we use that to disseminate photos and videos from our shows and classes.

Others

    1. Yan Ballet Academy reserves the right to change or cancel scheduled classes.
    2. Yan Ballet Academy reserves the right to change instructor of a class when necessary.
    3. Students must do all their ballet training at Yan Ballet Academy.
    4. Yan Ballet Academy wishes for all our staff and teachers to be treated in a manner deemed respectful by us, and for any behavior that causes disruption and/or distress to others to be avoided.
    5. Parents and students must adhere to the policies and procedures set out in our Safe Management Procedures document, which is available in all our branches.
    6. Yan Ballet Academy reserves the right to terminate or reject any student’s enrollment if they fail to comply with any of the Terms & Conditions.

Personal Data Protection

    1. The Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (the “PDPA”) establishes a general data protection law in Singapore which governs the collection, use and disclosure of individuals’ personal data by organisations.
    2. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you also agree to the terms and conditions set out in the Yan Ballet Academy Data Protection Notice.
