We offer a complete classical ballet program with certification by the world’s most influential dance education and training organisation – Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). YBA is a RAD Approved Examination Centre, with registered RAD Teachers.
Royal Academy of Dance
The RAD curriculum offers an internationally recognized portfolio of examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement in dance. RAD exams are part of an internationally renowned system of assessments, drawing on the research and academic practices of twenty awarding organisations.
Students start with the Pre-Primary curriculum, moving through Primary levels and then into eight Graded and six Vocational Graded levels. Students can move from Graded Examinations to Vocational Graded Examinations at an appropriate time, or they can study both pathways simultaneously.
Yan Ballet Academy offers classes in the full range of RAD Examinations and many students study syllabus work alongside other styles of dance.
The RAD Syllabi
- The graded syllabus (Pre-Primary in Dance, Primary in Dance and Grade 1–8) provides a broad practical dance education and develops technical, musical and performance skills (age 5+).
- Vocational graded examinations (Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1, Advanced 2) provide an in-depth study of ballet and prepare students for a career in dance (age 11+).
